Founded in 1918, Schaffhauser az is an essential independent voice in Swiss regional journalism. As a print-focused weekly publication, they needed to expand their reach through a clean, modern digital presence.

The core challenge: modernizing an editorial institution with over a century of heritage while converting a massive back catalog of PDF editions into accessible digital assets.

IRTECH designed and developed the editorial layout with modern headless CMS. The homepage balances lead investigative pieces, regional reports, arts coverage, and opinion columns with clean typographic hierarchy.

Journalists can publish multi-asset stories, photo galleries, and columns in minutes with effortless categorization.

A defining technical milestone was the digitization and cataloging of the back-issue repository. More than 700 full print issues were systematically indexed with rich metadata.

Subscribers can execute fast searches by keyword, publication year, or author, reading or downloading complete PDF editions directly in the browser.

By leveraging the decoupled REST API, content data was cleanly separated from presentation. This established the foundation for future native mobile reading apps and newsletter automations without rework.
